Concussions

What is a concussion?

  • a concussion is a traumatic brain injury caused from a jarring or shaking of the head or body that results in disturbance of brain function 
Signs and Symptoms:
  • may or may not include loss of consciousness
  • amnesia 
  • confusion
  • headache
  • balance problems or dizziness
  • double or fuzzy vision
  • sensitivity to light or noise 
  • nausea
  • feeling sluggish, foggy, or groggy
  • feeling unusually irritable
  • concentration or memory problems
  • slowed reaction time
If you suspect you have a concussion:
  • DO treat is seriously
  • DO NOT try to hide it or "tough it out"
  • DO get checked out by a physician or other healthcare provider 
  • DO follow proper recovery and return to activity steps
